Election 2026

The government is not on your side.

If you’ve found your way to the Libertarian Party, you probably already understand that government has become too big, too expensive and too involved in the lives of ordinary Victorians.

Victoria is carrying enormous debt, families and businesses are being squeezed by the rising cost of living, and governments continue to reach for more spending, more regulation and more control as the answer to almost every problem.

The Libertarian Party believes there is another way: smaller government, lower taxes, personal responsibility and greater freedom for individuals, families and businesses to make their own decisions.

This November, we have something important to protect.

David Limbrick has been a strong and consistent Libertarian voice in the Victorian Parliament. At this election, David is the only Libertarian MP facing re-election. Returning him to Parliament is our highest priority.
But David cannot do it alone.

Across Victoria, our candidates are standing to give voters a genuine alternative to the major parties, grow the Libertarian vote and build the support needed to elect more representatives who will stand up for individual liberty.

Every candidate, every volunteer and every vote contributes to that effort.

On 28 November, we have the opportunity to keep a Libertarian voice in Parliament, strengthen it, and show that there is growing support for a Victoria with less government and more freedom.

Vote Libertarian. Keep David Limbrick in Parliament. Build the Libertarian alternative.

Who are my candidates?

Legislative Council Candidates

David Limbrick

South Eastern Metro Region

David Limbrick MP represents the South East Metro Region and is seeking re-election in the Victorian Upper House. Since being elected in 2018, David has been a fierce opponent of never-ending tax hikes and government overreach into people's rights and freedoms, tackling issues across tax, regulation and drug law reform. During the pandemic, David was a leading critic of the Government's response. David is a regular TV commentator on state issues.

Prior to being elected, David spent much of his career working in business intelligence, working most recently as a senior manager in the finance industry. David grew up in Cranbourne and is married with 3 children. Now seeking a third term, David continues to call out failed government policy that has fuelled the rise of organised crime in Victoria, and is fighting to empower people to protect themselves, including through legalising pepper spray and introducing castle law protections.

Matthew Ford

North East Metro

I am running in the 2026 Victorian state election for one primary reason - I have had a gut full.

Our state is run by people who aren’t simply incompetent or corrupt, they hate us. Every day, every week, every year and every election they come up with new ways to abuse and humiliate us. Unfortunately the opposition, whoever that is, is no better. We don’t need another Labor-Liberal political ping pong match, rotating power amongst themselves. We need an alternative that understands the core problems we face, and is willing to implement bold new ideas to help improve the lives of all Victorians.

If you’re sick of being taxed every time you get out of bed, if you’re sick of having your business micromanaged by people far less impressive than you, if you’re sick of your kids getting a dud education, if you’re sick of struggling  while violent thugs get a thousand free pass, and if you’re sick of battling to make ends meet while we drown in government debt - vote Libertarian. If you live in the North East, I am your man.

David Schwab

North East Region

Born, raised and lived all my life in Melbourne’s East, having a family and raising four kids, I am very aware of life and its challenges for people in our metro region.

As a young man who gained an electrical apprenticeship in a competitive era, I have known that hard work and effort isn’t just about tuning up. You apply the things learned and continue even when everything doesn’t go your way. Nothing is ever handed to you, you have to shape and build the life around you.

Now seeing those adult children face the challenges ahead of them, I want to make a difference to Victoria and ensure they are also able to thrive and succeed like generations before.

My involvement in football clubs, churches, community groups and even running my own small business, has gone a long way to shaping the person I am. Different people, different ideas, we aren’t all the same but we all share the desires to reach goals, ambitions, dreams and life the life we set out to achieve.

I believe in your ability to do this unimpeded by third party interference and control.

Sadly, I believe there is too much red tape, bureaucracy and incompetence when it comes to the governance of our state. Live is hard and complex, in government I plan to make it much easier and simpler.

Cutting red tape, simplifying compliance, reduce taxation that so easily reduces your income and spending. Basically, government should be a servant to the people, should only provide the starting line and never be the means to you fulfilling your potential.

I believe together with the ideas of classical liberalism and the Libertarian Party, we can realise new opportunities, fairness and prosperity for all. Bring back common pride in our community and state where people can say with enthusiasm; ‘I am Victorian!’

Anthony Hain

Brighton

Anthony has spent his life mastering competitive games and sports. He earned his Candidate Chess Master title in 2015 and ranks amongst Australia's top chess players. He also won the A grade National Racquetball Circuit in 2017 and finished 5th in the Australian Open. High level State grade Squash is a regular part of his life. When Anthony is not competing, he teaches and coaches chess from beginners all the way up to Master level. Results have included both individual and team National Championship victories.

Anthony was apolitical until 2020 when he was affected by Melbourne's lockdowns. He peacefully protested for the basic right to earn a living — and this government answered with rubber bullets. In the years since, he has watched authorities stand by while mobs intimidated Jewish Melburnians off their own streets. "Everyone has the right to live their lives how they wish, the government seems to have forgotten that basic fact. Libertarians recognise that the government isn't the solution to the problem, more often than not, they are the cause..."

Victoria has become so heavily taxed, often for no tangible benefits, that it has become clear someone needed to step in. "Who else but me?"... "We can't wait for other people to fix our problems, we all need to play our part, so I'm throwing my hat in the ring, putting my money where my mouth is and stepping up to change things".

Anthony grew up around Brighton and has seen the electorate treated like the state's purse, generating tax revenue that gets wasted on everything except for what Brighton residents and businesses most dearly need. Crime, government regulations and the neglect of both failing infrastructure and the desires of Brighton residents have all gone on for too long.

"Brighton needs a strong voice, willing to speak for them, even at the potential personal cost of saying what is dangerous to say, but must be said. I am that person".

Lydia Denker

Narre Warren South

Lydia Denker is a mum, wife and small business owner who understands what it feels like to work hard, raise a family and still wonder why it has become so difficult to get ahead. When her son needed an alternative to mainstream
education, Lydia experienced firsthand how important it is for parents to have genuine choice in how their children are educated.

As a small business owner, she has also experienced the impact of government decisions personally, losing everything during COVID and later watching her business come close to the edge again because of government overreach. Like
many families in her community, she wants a future where our children have real opportunities, where hard work is rewarded, small businesses can thrive, and people feel safe in their own neighbourhoods.

Lydia is standing for election because she believes things must change. She wants parents to have greater freedom to choose the education that is right for their children, and schools to focus on giving students a strong education rather than taking on issues that belong with families. She will fight for lower taxes, less unnecessary government interference and a fairer environment for small businesses and working families. She believes people should be able to walk their streets without fear, that victims deserve justice and serious criminals belong behind bars. Above all, Lydia will stand for personal responsibility, freedom of speech and the right of ordinary people to make decisions about their own families and their own lives. She is running because she wants her son, her future grandchildren and every family in her community to inherit a Victoria that is safer, freer and filled with opportunity.

Kate Hands

Pakenham

I’ve lived in the Pakenham/Cardinia area for over 20 years. I moved here with my young family when we bought our first house, and we’ve built our lives here. I’ve raised three children here, worked here, run small businesses here and always been involved in the community in all sorts of ways. Including my children’s sports teams, Neighbourhood Watch and our infamous annual Yakerboo festival. I’ve worked in business, health and social services and local government. I’ve seen this community grow from the inside. Not as a politician, but simply as Kate: a mum, a sports enthusiast, a worker, a business owner, a driver, a public transport user and a local. I’ve always cared passionately about what happens across our unique and beautiful Cardinia.

I’m not a career politician. I actually never planned to get into politics. But I’ve always been someone who has a go when I think something isn’t right. I’ve spoken up about our community before, and eventually you reach a point where you can’t just sit back anymore. I’m a strong advocate for the people I support, the people I care for, and the people in my community, but I can’t keep sitting back and making a difference one person at a time. I’m standing because I believe government has become too complicated, too expensive and too disconnected from the people it is supposed to serve. I want to see government get back to doing the basics well, stop wasting money, ease the pressure on families and businesses, and give our community a fair go. I’ll be straight with people, listen to what matters locally and fight for our community. No spin, no games, no corruption. The Libertarians drew me in because their policies and values align most closely with mine: family, prosperity, freedom, smaller government, lower taxes, less corruption, individual rights, do no harm, and sensible laws around crime. For the first time, I’ve found a political party whose approach makes sense to me and what I believe is in the best interests of our local area and our State.

From balancing four years in the plumbing trade to managing online media projects, Jordan understands the daily reality and challenges facing ordinary working Australians. Since 2020, he has focused on building community through local group bike rides and events that have brought hundreds of young people and adults together across Dandenong. For Jordan, these events have always been about more than just bikes; they are about giving locals a safe space to get active, build real social connections, and support one another.

Jordan is standing for election to bring a practical, straight-talking voice to represent a community that often feels ignored. Having experienced firsthand the pressures of media and institutional scrutiny, he is a firm believer in protecting individual freedom and free speech. He is running to deliver safer streets by tackling youth crime directly, ensuring police resources are focused where they are needed most so that urgent calls get the immediate response residents deserve. Jeff Barry

Ripon

Jeff has lived at Amphitheatre near Avoca for the past 3 years, having grown up on a dairy farm in the Otways before running his arboriculture business in Melbourne for 35 years. His family have been in the Avoca area for four generations before him. He is a member of the CFA, he rides motorcycles, he skydives and he is a recreational hunter and shooter.

Jeff is appalled at the over-regulation in Victoria, the intrusion of government into the daily lives of farmers and businesses in thousands of ways designed to make it harder and harder to be productive. He is the opposite of a career politician, but has thrown his hat in the ring to, in his words, “Get the job done.”

Tim Quilty

Benambra

Tim Quilty is a local accountant, and former Victorian Upper House MP and Wodonga Councillor.

Originally a farmer from Adelong in southern NSW, Tim and his wife Olga have called Wodonga home since 2011. He has worked in accounting in the public and private sector and now runs his own accounting practice.

Tim believes Australia has been sliding out of control in the wrong direction, and we all need to work together to turn it around before it is too late. He has a strong track record of voting consistently for what he believes and in fighting for the people of this electorate.

A long-term member and candidate for the Libertarian party (previously the Liberal Democrats), Tim has consistently opposed increases in government taxes and wasteful government spending. He is driven by the belief that you pay far too much tax and that the government then wastes most of that money.

Tim has been a strong and consistent campaigner for the rights of the individual against government overreach, and strongly opposed the stupidity of all levels of government during the Covid insanity.

He has been a loud voice against corruption in Victoria, at both local and state levels.

Tim has been an ongoing advocate for a new single-site hospital in Wodonga during his time as an MP. He has been calling for a Wodonga site, just off the Bandiana bypass, since his time on council.

He is also a passionate advocate for creating a new state from the regional areas of NSW and Victora, breaking the chains that bind us to Melbourne and giving economic and political sovereignty back to local people and businesses. We cannot thrive while Melbourne continues to suck away our resources and shut down our industries.

He is also an advocate for law abiding firearms owners.

Tim believes individuals should be free to make their own choices, in voluntary interaction and trade in both economic and social life. Too much government is the cause of our problems and we can’t solve that with more laws, more taxes and more spending.

Caleb Schwab

Warrandyte

I’ve spent the most formative years of my life growing up in the Warrandyte electorate. It’s where I caught the bus to school, played junior football at Chirnside Park, started my first part-time job, and even learned how to pan for gold in Anderson’s Creek. Its bushland and natural environment have been a place of refuge for me for many years, while its small businesses have fuelled countless weekend day trips. Warrandyte is a part of Victoria I care deeply about, and I believe the people who live here deserve representation that understands what makes this community worth protecting.

That connection is why I’m standing for election this November. There is so much to love about our slice of the world, but I don’t believe we can take it for granted. I believe years of poor stewardship have left our roads and infrastructure deteriorating, small businesses under increasing pressure, and government becoming too costly, intrusive and distant from the people it is meant to serve. Working in research has taught me to identify problems carefully, challenge assumptions and focus on practical solutions. As the Libertarian candidate for Warrandyte, I want a government that is accountable every day, not just once every four years; that trusts adults to make decisions about their own lives; and that stops putting unnecessary barriers in the way of individuals and businesses. If elected, people will know where I stand because those principles will guide the way I represent this community. People change, but principles don’t.

For a Warrandyte that can worry less about the government, Vote 1 Caleb Schwab.

David Segal

Malvern

I am a retired stockbroker who has lived all his life in the Stonnington area. I have run for the Libertarian Party in 4 elections because I believe in the principles that they support, small government, small taxes, individual’s choice with individual responsibility. I understand the requirements of a functioning economy , the need to harness the mechanisms of free markets to drive ambition , improve productivity to  increase the wealth and wellbeing of all of Victoria’s citizens.

Because the Libertarian Party is a party of principles not personalities its principles guide a suite of policies to solve many of the problems that decades of uniparty politics have created. We are fiscal conservatives and social progressives so we protect the freedoms and  rights of individuals in relation to speech, religion , and assembly. My personal biggest crusade is to reign in the climate zealots who’s renewables fanaticism has created more destruction to habitat and farming land than other factor. It is insulting to claim that this is environmentalism. Government interference in the energy sector has been the biggest factor in creating the cost of living crisis we are going through as energy flows through to every sector of the economy. Libertarians are neither left nor right but sit in the centre as the sensible alternative ,the adults in the room. We are not just a party of principles but a party of solutions.

I believe my experience means that if elected I  am well placed to represent the people of the Malvern electorate and understand the issues and challenges  that confront us on a daily basis. Crime has been rampant, government is onstantly interfering in our lives and cost of living issues affect all.

Julian Fidge

Ovens Valley

Dr Julian Fidge’s connection to Wangaratta and north-east Victoria is built on caring for people and working alongside them. A rural GP, cattle farmer, Army veteran and volunteer firefighter, he has served the community in the consulting room, on the farm and with the CFA. After working as a pharmacist, Julian studied medicine and went on to establish Docker Street General Medical Centre in 2009 and a purpose-built practice in South Wangaratta in 2016. His work in bulk-billing general practice, caring for veterans and emergency workers, and supporting people through drug and alcohol rehabilitation has brought him into contact with many different lives and circumstances.
Beyond medicine, he has served as a Firefighter of his local CFA Brigades for more than a decade. His earlier Army service, including deployment as a medical officer in East Timor, and humanitarian work during the Rwandan refugee emergency are also part of a life spent providing practical help when people need it. Dr Fidge has been awarded the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal by the Australian Government for his work in Africa, and the Timor-Leste Solidarity Medal by the President of East Timor for his peacekeeping service in that country.

Julian is standing for the Libertarian Party in Ovens Valley because regional communities deserve a stronger voice and the freedom to shape their own future. In his previous council campaign, he called for Yarrunga to receive its fair share and raised concerns about infrastructure keeping pace with housing growth. His medical work and public advocacy also reflect a concern for safe care and the freedom to question decisions that affect patients and practitioners. The Libertarian Party’s commitment to individual liberty and property rights provides the foundation for his campaign. He will oppose tax increases and restrictions on liberty, and advocate for government that respects people’s choices. He wants to bring that practical, questioning approach to public office: listening to local people, scrutinising government decisions and keeping the community’s needs at the centre. His purpose is to stand up for regional communities, accessible healthcare and accountable government, so that the people who live and work in Ovens Valley have a meaningful say in their future.

Dr Fidge has specific interests in Artificial Intelligence safety, the functioning of local government
councils, nuclear energy, and the misuse of judicial power in Victoria.

Eltham

I have lived in Eltham with my wife and two children for ten years now, and I grew up in Templestowe. Eltham is a beautiful area, full of trees, birds, lovely people, fresh air and a lot of parks! We have made our home here and met many great people throughout the community.

Over this time, I have seen the area slowly transform. Today, what it is becoming troubles me and I wonder what it’ll look like when my children are older. People drowning in bureaucracy, taxed to oblivion and an indifferent government (and council) who believe the people exist to serve it. A classic case of the tail wagging the dog.

Eltham is a working-class area and many people own their own businesses. I am a registered Builder myself and work in a family business, so I know how hard it is today for people to get anything done. I spend most of my time navigating bureaucratic mazes, constantly hitting road block after road block, wasting my time. This kills productivity. Personally, I think your hard work should benefit you and your family first, that your house is your Castle, that you should raise your children as you see fit, that governments should be small, that the people come first and that you are free to live your own life. If you agree, then you’re already a Libertarian. So vote for us!
